Abstract    Metabolic and bariatric surgery is developing rapidly in China. Although the primary operative method in our country is derived from the Western countries, Chinese metabolic and bariatric surgeons are constantly exploring new operative methods which are more suitable for Chinese people. Although the original intention of exploring a new operation is good, the standardization, safety, and effectiveness of the operation should be strictly evaluated before the new operation is carried out, and it cannot be directly promoted on a large scale. The relevant industry associations of metabolic surgery should also play a positive guidance role in improving economic and social benefits to help the development of metabolic and bariatric surgery for faster and better in our country.
