Abstract:

Summary：The final destination of dental restoration is reconstruction of excellent occlusion which should fit not only the requirement of esthetic but oral-facial physiological function. No occlusal schema can be used for all patients. The occlusal diagnosis and decision made for each restorative treatment is fundamental to starting the treatment，and that needs entire understanding of concepts of physiologic occlusion，pathologic occlusion，and ideal occlusion. For occlusal treatment，at least the following six elements should be considered. They are mandibular position， vertical dimension of occlusion，occlusal plane， anterior guidance，morphology of posterior teeth，and position and strength of occlusal contacts.
