Abstract: Cleft lip and palate is the most common congenital malformation of head and neck. Patients often have varying degrees of soft and hard tissue defects and deformities，as well as a variety of physiological dysfunction，such as hypoplasia in the middle of the face，malocclusion，language and hearing dysfunction and so on. As a congenital developmental defect，the malformations will change with growth and development，including physiological abnormalities caused by deformities，secondary maxillofacial abnormalities caused by surgery，and so on. Recent studies have shown that in addition to maxillofacial deformities，cleft lip and palate is often accompanied by abnormal development of the head and neck. This article reviews the research progress in abnormalities of head and neck anatomy in patients with cleft lip and palate.
