Abstract:

Management evolution of acute abdomen in the era of minimally invasive surgery        SUN Yi-hong. Department of General Surgery，Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University，Shanghai 200032，China
Abstract    With the development of minimally invasive surgery，the improvement of advanced imaging diagnostic technologies and the progress of evidence-based medicine and the concept of damage control surgery，the evaluation and management of acute abdomen have been revolutionized hugely. Acute abdomen has been evaluated more reasonably and intensively and the diagnosis has become more efficient and accurate followed by timely therapeutic interventions with multiple choices. In the age of minimally invasive surgery，laparoscopy might be a good alternative to an open approach both in terms of diagnosis and treatment for the acute abdomen，but the practice should be based on the available scientific evidence，and be taken into the consideration of comprehensive treatments and damage control to achieve the best outcomes for patients with acute abdomen.
