Abstract    As the new Sars-CoV-2 Omicron variant is widespread in the world, the regular epidemic prevention and control of COVID-19 has entered a new stage. General surgery is one of the major medical specialties in need during the pandemic because of the wide range of disease spectrum and the massive acute and critical diseases involved. Based on existing research evidence and clinical practice experience, the optimized procedures of general surgery and protective measures are proposed. Firstly,in terms of macro strategy, wards should be zoned and a reasonable procedure for emergency and elective admissions should be formulated. Secondly,as for the technical details of intraoperative protection, caution should be taken on key aspects such as donning and doffing of personal protective equipment(PPE),handling of surgical aerosol, and transfer of specimens. Finally, extreme attention should be taken on the prevention and dispositon of exposures to occupational hazard.
