Abstract: A dental injury should be considered as one of the most common emergencies. Therapy depends upon a correct diagnosis to maintain aesthetics and function，which can be achieved with the help of pulp testing. In this paper，the biological basis of pulp vitality，pulp testing methods and evaluation，different types of traumatic pulp damage and characteristics of pulp vitality were analyzed. Under the guidance of International Association of Dental Traumatology guidelines for clinical treatment of dental trauma，combined with cases and experience，the relationship between the vitality of traumatic teeth and the implementation of clinical treatment plan was summarized. It has important application value in improving the clinical diagnosis and treatment thinking and making scientific，precise and personalized treatment design of dental trauma.
