Abstract:

Summary：Due to social progress and improvement of medical and health care，China has become an aging country with 160 million elderly people aged above 60. How to meet their demand for  dental treatment has posed a challenge，and meanwhile a new opportunity for dentists. Along with the continuing development and extensive application of dental implant technique，more and more attention in this field has been focused on the following questions：aging characteristics of the oral and maxillofacial region，appropriate treatments of general complications in the implant surgery，correct resolution on lack-of-bone or osteoporosis in the implant sites，as well as deficiency of the occlusion height and implant prosthodontics in edentia. The article will give a brief introduction and review on the questions above，and share some clinical experience with readers.
