Abstract: Cysts of the jaws in children are pathological cystic lesions in the jaws that commonly occur during the mixed dentition period. Through mechanisms involving mechanical compression，alterations in the inflammatory microenvironment，and molecular dysregulation，these lesions can impair the normal development and eruption of succedaneous permanent teeth，clinically manifested as dental structural abnormalities，morphological abnormalities，and eruption disturbances. Owing to the distinctive anatomical characteristics and growth-related features of the pediatric oral and maxillofacial region，diagnostic and therapeutic strategies differ substantially from those in adults，with greater emphasis on minimally invasive intervention，preservation of functional structures，and long-term growth considerations. Based on the related research progress and clinical practice experience at home and abroad in recent years，this review systematically summarizes the key diagnosis points and management strategies of common cysts of the jaws in children，elucidates the mechanisms underlying their effects on the development and eruption of succedaneous permanent teeth，and outlines comprehensive management principles for affected teeth，including preservation decisions，eruption guidance，and pulp management，aiming to provide a clinical reference for standardized diagnosis and treatment of cysts of the jaws and function preservation of succedaneous permanent teeth in children.
