Abstract: In addition to basic dental and alveolar surgery，the scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery also includes a variety of complex cranio-maxillofacial surgery. The knowledge and background requirements for oral and maxillofacial surgeons are not limited to dentistry. Although it is considered a specialty of dentistry in many parts of the world，there are also many countries that require practitioners to obtain a dual degree of both medicine and dentistry. Oral and maxillofacial surgery education and training paths vary among different countries and regions. This article made a comparative analysis and discussed the training of oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
