Abstract: Augmented reality（AR）is a technology that combines the real world with the virtual world built by computers. Through key technologies such as model reconstruction，real-time tracking and registration，the audio and video，3D model and text processed by computers are attached to the real world，thus "enhancing" the real world. At present，this technology has become one of the research hot-spots in the medical field and has been widely used in many disciplines. This paper will introduce the key technologies，application processes and applications of AR in oral and maxillofacial surgery，analyze the existing problems，and make a prospect of the future research and development direction of AR.
