Abstract    Cholecystectomy is a well-recognized cure for benign gallbladder diseases, and there is a clear consensus on the indications and timing of operation in domestic and foreign academic circles. In recent years, the treatment of benign gallbladder diseases by “gallbladder preservation surgery” has been highly debated. Some doctors equal the academic view of "protect the gallbladder" with the surgical technique of "gallbladder preservation", which may lead to a differential prognosis for patients. Therefore, clinicians should clarify the difference between the concept of "gallbladder protection" and "gallbladder preservation surgery", in order to have a correct understanding and application of the diagnosis and treatment principles of benign gallbladder diseases.
