Abstract    Variceal haemorrhage is one of the most dangerous complications during the progression of cirrhosis. With the application of the relevant medical technology and drugs， the mortality of hemorrhage decreased significantly. However， how to decide the individualized comprehensive treatment for patients with variceal haemorrhage ， which can maximize improve patients’ prognosis， has become an important topic of evidence-based medicine. In 2000， the British Society of Gastroenterology published UK guidelines on the management of variceal haemorrhage in cirrhotic patients which was based on the published systematic reviews and clinical studies,it has an important clinical significance and has been widely used. In 2015 the British Society of Gastroenterology combined basic and clinical research results in recent years and update parts of guide contents.
