Local anatomy and classification of the rectal lymphatic system        HU Xiang. Department of General Surgery，the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University，Dalian 116011，China
Abstract    The rectum which is located at the terminal part of digestive tract, is characterized by complex anatomical structure and unique lymphatic drainage system. The rectal lymphatic drainage system is complicated and variable，and it not only exists in the mesorectum，but also has drainage pathways to the lateral and inferior side. Understanding and realizing the characteristics of anatomical structure will contribute to comprehend the pattern of lymph node metastasis and improve the surgical therapeutic effect of rectal cancer.
