Abstract    Gastric cancer is a commonly encountered malignancy worldwide, known for its high incidence and elevated mortality rates. Currently, the predominant therapeutic approach for gastric cancer remains comprehensive management centered around surgical intervention. In recent years, despite the unprecedented advancement in laparoscopic surgical techniques, its utilization continues to be a subject of contention. With the progression of large-scale clinical studies, the safety and effectiveness of laparoscopic treatment for early-stage gastric cancer have been established and endorsed by major international guidelines and consensus statements on gastric cancer management. However, further research is warranted to confirm the efficacy and safety of laparoscopic treatment for advanced-stage gastric cancer. In recent years, along with advancements in laparoscopic techniques and the dissemination of additional clinical research outcomes, the application of laparoscopy in gastric cancer treatment has garnered broader acceptance. Particularly, significant series of clinical studies from China, Japan, and South Korea have furnished ample and comprehensive high-level evidence in the realm of evidence-based medicine, facilitating the promotion and refinement of laparoscopic gastric cancer surgery.
