Abstract    Latissimus dorsi flap (LDF) is especially critical in the field of breast reconstruction for breast cancer patients. It has a constant vascular anatomy, and does not require microsurgical techniques such as vascular anastomosis. In addition, LDF can adjust the acquisition range according to the required amount of tissue defects. The history of the application of LDF in breast reconstruction，and backtrack the exploration course from LDF to extended LDF, which further transform into mini LDF shows that the combination with implants or lipofilling technique makes LDF a broader range of application. By reviewing the development of LDF in the field of breast reconstruction, doctors can provide more individual reconstruction plans for patients according to their own situations. It can not only curing the disease, but also remodelling the shape of breast for breast cancer patients.
