Abstract    In recent years，bariatric and metabolic surgery in China has made great progresses through the relentless efforts of the surgical colleagues，and the annual number of operations has been over ten thousands. However，the homogenization of surgical indications and methods throughout the country is still a concern. The stable and sustainable development of bariatric and metabolic surgery can not be separated from the control of medical quality. The strict access systems of bariatric and metabolic surgery should be established，and the operative indication should be strictly controlled，while the patients should be evaluated in detail with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) model. In addition to surgical safety，surgeons should also pay attentions to the medium and long-term effects of the operation，including  weight loss，metabolic indices remission and the later weight rebounding，which are closely related to the surgical quality. Besides，the patient's detailed profiles and lifetime follow-up should be established after the operation.
