Abstract    Oncoplastic breast reconstruction has become an important component of comprehensive therapy for breast cancer. Strong collaborations of physicians, patients and society are warranted to build a normalized and professional mode and pathway for oncoplastic breast reconstruction in China. Both oncological safety and cosmetic well-being are key requirements for the design, procedure and assessment of oncoplastic breast reconstruction. The principles of comprehensive therapy and oncological considerations should not be compromised and should always take precedence. Breast surgeons should recommend and perform the oncoplastic breast reconstructions with objective understanding and cautious assessment, and strictly follow the recommendations of professional consensus as well as the principles of personalized treatment. Closely multidisciplinary collaborations with plastic surgeons are recommended to achieve a balanced oncoplastic safety and cosmetic well-being.
