Abstract: Artificial intelligence has advanced rapidly during the last few decades. Deep learning，as an important part of it，has been widely employed in various professional fields due to its superior feature extraction capabilities than traditional algorithms. In the medical area，deep learning based on convolutional neural networks has made significant contributions to disease pathological and imaging diagnosis，treatment plan development，and prognosis prediction. This paper reviewed the research progress in the application of deep learning based on convolutional neural networks in the diagnosis and treatment of oral and maxillofacial surgical diseases，and analyzed the challenges of the current research，aiming to provide a foundation for further clinical application.
