Abstract: Abstract：Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of the indirect impression taking method of making cast-post-core using silicone impression material and prepared plastic pins. Methods Select 400 anterior teeth and premolars of 289 patients from the Outpatient Department of Shenzhen Dental Center from January 2005 to October 2007，whose crowns had been destroyed seriously and the root canals had undergone complete root-canal-treatment，and they were divided into two groups randomly;strictly prepare the root canal and the surface of root. In the test group（248 nuts），silicone impression material was injected into the root canal，and the prepared plastic pin was added to get post model. Then post was casted completely by technicians. In control group（152 nuts），inlay wax and metal wire were used to get post model. Try for clinic and examine the suitablity，compression and stability of post-core. Results Totally 242 cases were evaluated as excellence （97.6%） in test group，while 136 cases were evaluated as excellence（89.5%）in control group. Significant difference in statistics（P < 0.05）could be found between the two groups. Conclusion The method of impression using silicone impression material and prepared plastic pin in making cast-post-core has excellent precision，good clinical effect and it is worth using widely.
