Abstract: Ankylosis of primary tooth results from the combined effects of genetic and local factors，characterized by fusion between cementum and alveolar bone. Radiographically，it presents as a loss of local periodontal ligament space，and clinically，it manifests as “submerged deciduous teeth”. It not only affects the development of the alveolar bone but may also lead to a series of complications such as malocclusion，dental caries，and periodontal diseases，compromising orofacial function and esthetics. Early and accurate diagnosis，along with timely management of primary tooth ankylosis，is essential. Treatment strategies emphasize multidisciplinary collaboration and personalized planning，taking into account various factors including the presence or absence of successor permanent teeth，the degree of primary tooth submergence，the child′s growth and development stage，and occlusal status. This article systematically elaborates on the etiopathogenesis，key diagnostic points，and comprehensive management strategies for ankylosis of primary teeth，aiming to provide a reference for clinical practice.
