Abstract: The main management of odontogenic cyst is operation，but the specific area in making up the decisions of management of odontogenic cyst refer to the management of the involved teeth；however，there is no guideline about this at home and abroad. When the root of involved teeth protrude into the cyst cavity，especially the teeth with vital pulp，there is different management decisions to make. Plenty of researches support the decision to preserve the involved teeth，while root canal therapies are the crucial strategy in order to keep the involved teeth in oral cavity. Recently，with the update of various materials and equipment，root canal treatment not only becomes more precise，more minimal invasive，but enhances the curative effect. In this article，we present an overview about the management of odontogenic cyst in three aspects：evaluation of involved teeth，root canal treatment and apicectomy.
