Abstract: Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the combination of dezocine and lidocaine in inferior alveolar nerve block. Methods A total of forty patients with inferior alveolar nerve block under going oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Stomatological Hospital of China Medical University from May to August 2019 were randomly divided into two groups. The trial group received 2% lidocaine 4 mL plus dezocine 0.2 mL(1 mg);the control group received 2% lidocaine 4 mL plus saline 0.2 mL. The onset time of anesthesia, the duration of anesthesia, the effect of intraoperative analgesia and the complications were recorded. Results The onset time of anesthesia in trial group [(150.90 ± 24.92)s ] was significantly shorter than that in control group [(228.60 ± 28.47)s ](P < 0.05). The duration of anesthesia [(3.49 ± 0.43)h ] was significantly longer than that in control group [(2.39 ± 0.31)h ](P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the intraoperative analgesic effect between the two groups(P > 0.05). One case in the trial group and one in the control group developed transient dizziness. Conclusion The combination of dezocine and lidocaine is effective in inferior alveolar nerve block, which can effectively shorten the onset time of lidocaine and prolong the duration of anesthesia without increasing the incidence of adverse reactions, such as nausea, vomitting and drowsiness.
