Abstract:

Objective    To systematically evaluate the results of facial soft tissue profiles of Chinese normal occlusion population published at home and abroad, and to explore the gender differences in soft tissue profile indicators. Methods Databases of PubMed,Embase,Cochrane library,CNKI and Wanfang from January 1990 to May 2018 were searched systematically. Data quality evaluation and extraction were independently conducted by two authors. Then Meta analysis was performed using RevMan5.3 software. Results    Totally seventeen original clinical controlled trials were included, including male 836 and female 923. Male nasolabial angle, labiomental angle, angle of total facial convexity and nasal angle were smaller than those of female;male angle of facial converxity,H angle, lip thickness at the bottom of the nose and chin thickness were larger than those of femal; there was significant difference between male and female(P < 0.05). The distance from upper lip to E line and from lower lip to E line of two groups were of no significant difference(P > 0.05).  Conclusion    In the normal occlusion population, the male nose is more erect than the female nose, the soft tissue thickness is thicker in male than that in the female, and the lip and the middle of the face are more protruding in the male.
