Abstract    It has been 9 years since the implementation of standardized training for specialists of general surgery in Shanghai in 2013. As an important part of graduate medical education，its training objectives，contents and patterns have gradually formed domestic standards and systems by learning from the advanced experience of western countries and combining our own characteristics. It is of great significance for the development of professional competence of trainees，especially its assessment mode has become a very useful innovation of evaluation for the standardized training for specialists and has also played an important role for the promotion and implementation throughout the country. At present，we still need to face up to the problems in the implementation of standardized training for specialists，break through these bottlenecks and make up for the shortcomings in time，so as to further promote the continuous progress of graduate medical education in China.
