Abstract    Since the beginning of the 21st century，the general surgery has developed rapidly，with the constantly updating ideas and new technologies，and it has become more representative in the treatment of colorectal cancer. However，it is very difficult to perform randomized controlled study in the surgical field，and the provement of the effectiveness for new treatments and technologies need a long process，the standardized and scientific clinical research might be the fundamental method to solve this problem. This paper summarizes the new progress of clinical research on several hot issues related to colorectal surgery. It can be seen that the future goal is to maximize the retention of function，obtain a better quality of life and prolong the survival time. Therefore，the only way to achieve this goal is to obtain more clinical researches and evidence-based standardized surgical treatment in colorectal cancer.
