Abstract: The chin is a definitive structure of the lower face and plays an important role in the facial balance and harmony. Deformities of the chin are commonly present in cosmetic surgery. Various techniques for chin deformities include chin augmentation with autogenous grafting or alloplastic materials and osseous genioplasty. However， controversy still exits in selecting alloplastic augmentation or osseous genioplasty. In this artical， we will focus on the indications of these techniques and provide a brief overview of treatment modalities for such deformities. We advice the plastic surgeons should master the technique of osseous genioplasty besides alloplastic chin augmentation because of its versatility.
