Abstract:

Objective To investigate application of the micro-incision to superior border

zygomatic arch in the treatment for fracture of zygomatic arch. Methods Micro-incision was used on superior border zygomatic arch united maxillofacial local micro-incision with mini-plate fixation from January 2006 to January 2008 at the Shanxi Medical University Stomatological College to treat the fracture of zygomatic complex patients （48 cases）. Results All patients’ incisions were healed in stage I;after three and six months of follow-up visits， the vast majority of the shape and function recovered well，achieving a satisfactory therapeutic effect. Conclusion The selection of the parallel micro-incision with branch of the facial nerve on superior border zygomatic arch on facial nerve running outside the “danger zone”，together with maxillofacial local micro-incision and mini-plate fixation for the surgical trauma in patients has such small trauma and benefits as it can also short path;avoid the hemicoronal-approach-left side-effects，with effective restoration of zygomatic arch shape and opening function， which is in line with the principle of minimally invasive surgery.
