Abstract

Tubal obstruction includes two types, one is true occlusion caused by tubal fibrosis and adhesions, and the other is tubal functional obstruction caused by mucus plugs and inflammation in the tubal lumen. The tubal diseases discussed in this article that are amenable to interventional evacuation are actually the latter, while true occlusions are generally more difficult to evacuate and are often treated with interventional embolisation prior to assisted reproduction after unsuccessful treatment. The main cause of tubal obstruction is obstruction of the lumen by mucus and debris, and the success rate of unblocking is high. However, the indications for interventional therapy are unclear in the cases of middle and distant tubal obstruction, the cases with history of previous tubal injuries, and those with specific tubal inflammatory lesions, and this article discusses the general rules and individualized experience in the interventional treatment of tubal infarction with a view to maximize the benefits for the patient and increase the chances of natural conception.
