Abstract: Local anesthesia is extensively used in dental treatment，and it has a crucial function in pain control. At present, periodontal ligament（PDL）injection is often used as a primary or supplementary anesthesia method，which shows its advantages in limited anesthesia range and improved anesthesia efficiency compared with conventional anesthetic techniques. To provide theoretical basis for clinical application，this paper reviews the application and safety of PDL injection in dental treatment.
