Abstract: Autotransplantation of teeth is the process of moving a tooth from one position to another within the same individual. This method has the following advantages. The missing teeth could be functionally restored with natural teeth. The complete dentition could be restored in a short time and a perfect aesthetic and physiological effects of teeth and alveolus could be maintained in the early stage. The orthodontic movement can be made after the transplantation. With the continuous development of new technologies in recent year，the interdisciplinary application of autotransplantation of teeth in periodontology，endodontics，pediatric dentistry，orthodontics and oral implantology has showed the unique advantages，and has been recognized by both doctors and patients. This article reviews the advantages and disadvantages of autotransplantation of teeth and its application in multidisciplinary field of stomatology.
